Denomination of Origin Almansa hosted, last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the first bootcamp in Castilla-La Mancha to examine candidates to “Masters of Wine” from Spain and other countries. During these three days, blind wine tastings were carried out in preparation for the final “Masters of Wine” exam that will take place on July 25 in London.
The objective of this event, organized by D.O. Almansa, was that the professionals who attended could acquire and continue to progress in their knowledge in order to prepare themselves to join one of the reference groups in the wine world: the Masters of Wine. The tests, which began on Thursday afternoon in Almansa, will take place over three days at the facilities of three of the wineries in our production area in Almansa, Chinchilla de
Montearagón and Higueruela. Among the Masters of Wine candidates we find several Spaniards and also experts from other countries such as Russia, Hungary or Greece.
On Friday afternoon we organized a showroom at the D.O. Almansa headquarters with the best selection of our wines.
After the first two tests that took place on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, we also organized a showcooking at the headquarters of Denomination of Origin Almansa, where all the candidates were given the opportunity to taste wines from our production area. The event was also attended by representatives of the D.O. Almansa wineries and public institutions such as the Almansa Town Hall.
With all this, and in addition to the showcooking, during these three days of bootcamp the aspiring future Masters of Wine were also able to enjoy the gastronomy of our region in the restaurants of reference and the most representative tourist sites of Almansa and Higueruela.
Adolfo Cano, president of D.O. Almansa, stressed that “it is a pleasure for us that you have come to our headquarters to carry out these tests and to be able to organize this type of event with which we want to help future Masters of Wine so that they can continue to evolve in their professional careers. We wish you all the best and that you can get to know and enjoy the wines of our Almansa Denomination of Origin”.
