Denomination of Origin Almansa has started the month of May with an intense promotional activity, presenting our wines at Fenavin and joining the DO Wine Movement Day, whose collective toast took place in Higueruela last Saturday, May 13.
Regarding Fenavin, our Denomination of Origin Almansa was present throughout the event, with a sample of its wines at the stand “Campo y Alma” of Castilla-La Mancha. During the three days that Fenavin took place in Ciudad Real in this 2023 edition, our wines participated in several activities to discover themselves to the attendees, as with the wine tasting that was carried out by Cristina Díaz and Fran Martínez, from Restaurante Maralba de Almansa, at the same stand of our region during the first day of Fenavin.
On Thursday, our president, Adolfo Cano, together with one of the winemakers of our DO Almansa, Juan Pablo Cantos, made a presentation of our production area and a commented tasting of three of the most representative wines: Verdejo, Monastrell and Garnacha Tintorera.
In addition, after this commented tasting of Almansa Denomination of Origin wines, the event was closed with a presentation of the Almansa Wine Route and its main characteristics. All this at a time when it is about to achieve official certification as a route in the coming weeks.
A multitudinous toast in Higueruela on the DO Wine Movement Day
Last Saturday was the culmination of the week with the celebration of the DO Wine Movement Day in Higueruela, which from Denomination of Origin Almansa we have joined one more year. On this occasion, the toast was made simultaneously at 13.30 with the rest of the appellations of origin from all over Spain, taking place in the traditional and popular Pilgrimage of San Isidro that ended at Casa Aparicio.
Our president, Adolfo Cano, read a manifesto before all attendees in this place located in the vicinity of Higueruela, which stressed that this day “was a day of wine in our country, so that the sector has an annual date with which to make visible what it means and brings wine to rural areas, such as the towns of Alpera and Higueruela. Besides wanting to claim what the designations of origin contribute this day also with a product
with a lot of quality and prestige: the wine with designation of origin”. The event had a spectacular repercussion at national level, where all the designations of origin in Spain used the hashtag #DOPatrimonioColectivo to record this moment.
On a day with a great atmosphere of celebration and joy, the neighbors of Higueruela were able to enjoy the essence of DO Almansa wines, before making the group toast with which all the neighbors raised their glasses to toast to this day in which it is intended to claim the role of wine as a dynamic element of our society, besides being one of our economic pillars of Castilla-La Mancha.
