Denomination of Origin Almansa returns to present its wines at FENAVIN, the most important wine fair in Spain, after three years of absence due to the pandemic. We also attended, as members of the project, the birth of the new association “Monastrell España”.
Our president, Adolfo Cano, who was also present at the fair, participated along with presidents of other Denominations of Origin in the reception held at the opening of the fair in Ciudad Real to His Majesty King Felipe VI. Afterwards, in a day full of events and visits for our D.O. Almansa, we were able to successfully accomplish a wine tasting of our Garnacha Tintorera red wines during Carlos Maldonado ́s showcooking at the Castilla La-Mancha Campo y Alma stand.
On the first day of the fair, the day ended after a tasting led by the enologist Pedro Sarrión, in which some of the wines of our Denomination de Origin Almansa were tasted. Attendees were able to taste or take a tour of our wines and our production area with young reds, crianzas, whites and rosés wines. We were carrying out all these activities in the Homero Pavilion, in the institutional stand of Castilla-La Mancha “Campo y Alma”.
With all these initiatives accomplished at FENAVIN, which has served as a first step of the numerous activities that we will carry out in the coming weeks and months, we intend that our D.O. Almansa continues to grow in visibility not only at a national level, but also at an international level.
DO Almansa will become part of Monastrell España
FENAVIN has served as the starting signal for the new association Monastrell España, of which D.O. Almansa will form part with six other Denominations of Origin of the Mediterranean arc: Vinos Alicante D.O.P., D.O. Bullas, Yecla Vino, Vinos D.O. Valencia and Vinos D.O.P. Jumilla. The objective of this new institution will be to spread the value of the Monastrell grape variety, of which we have excellent wines in our production area.
To celebrate the birth of Monastrell España, there was also a professional wine tasting led by the Master of Wine Pedro Ballesteros Torres, which was very well received and in which some of the most renowned red wines of this variety were tasted.
