Denominación de Origen Almansa was once again present at the Assembly of the CECRV (Spanish Conference of Wine Regulatory Councils), which was held in Malaga on 29 October.
In what was the XXVIII assembly, the meeting was organised to address various objectives on the part of the designations of origin of our country, together with the challenges, bases and needs of the same for the coming years.
Adolfo Cano, president of DO Almansa, highlighted the importance of being present again at an event like this, where all the designations of origin “can share all the concerns and challenges that the sector has to face from 2022”. Furthermore, the fact that DO Almansa is here is also a strong boost for our production area “as it highlights the fact that we continue to work to be alongside the best designations of origin in Spain”.
Major challenges for the wine sector
Firstly, the prospects of launching a possible marketing standard to be applied to the wine sector were discussed, in order to measure its analysis and scope. On the other hand, and with a view to the proposed law to be drafted at the beginning of next year, the process of strengthening the European Union’s system of quality figures was discussed.
A law that is expected to achieve a reform that reinforces quality figures for European consumers, as well as emphasising the importance of the development and sustainability of rural areas. With regard to the Strategic Plans of the new CAP (Common Agricultural Policy), its implications and the future National Strategic Plan, which will come into force in 2023, were discussed.
This event, which was organised at the Centre Pompidou in Malaga, was a special event for everyone, as it was a return to a face-to-face format, after having to be held online since 2019 due to the health crisis. The event was organised by the CRDO of Málaga, Sierras de Málaga and Pasas de Málaga, as well as providing an opportunity to get to know some of the most symbolic designations of origin in the area, such as Axarquía and Serranía de Ronda.
