Denominación de Origen Almansa has selected the best wines of the year in its first blind tasting organised at the DO headquarters. The event, which took place at the San Blas de Almansa hermitage on Tuesday 13 April, was the first blind tasting of the best wines of the year.
27 wines were tasted in five different categories
With this selection, the wines that have obtained the best score will be the ones that will represent Denominación de Origen Almansa in the different promotional actions in which our DO Almansa will participate and will be the protagonist in 2021. The categories in which the wines were classified were: young whites, whites aged for more than six months, rosés, young reds and reds aged for more than six months.
The latter were classified into two sub-categories with the most representative red varieties of our region, the first one including those with more than 50% Monastrell and the second one including reds with more than 50% Garnacha Tintorera.
DO Almansa brings together Almansa wine experts
On this special occasion, we have been lucky enough to have some of the most representative figures of the wine sector in the city of Almansa to assess the great potential of the wines of our DO Almansa.
This event, which had all the security and prevention measures in front of the Covid 19, according to its president Adolfo Cano is a turning point, as in the coming years the event will be repeated, recognising the wineries that achieve a higher score. The experts were Daniel Rotea, manager of Almarket, Eliecer García, manager of Taberna Ramona, Juan Huerta, oenologist, Fran Tobarra, from Casa Antonio Restaurante. All of them gave a “positive” evaluation of this experience, underlining in particular “the quality of the wines we tasted”, to which they predict a “great present and future in the coming years”.
