The production area of Denominación de Origen Almansa is facing these weeks prior to the harvest in optimal health conditions, despite the high temperatures we are having this summer. In this context, it is expected that the harvest will be brought forward in most of the municipalities of the region that are part of our DO Almansa, starting much earlier than in recent years.
After leaving behind the veraison process in many parts of our production area, in which the grapes have already acquired violet and bluish tones, the Garnacha Tintorera is ripening correctly and is expected to arrive at harvest time in good condition and with an excellent level of ripeness and grade, as we can see in the following images.
Good forecasts for this harvest
Adolfo Cano, president of DO Almansa, assesses right now the state of life explaining that “despite the fact that we have had a very dry 2023, the rains that took place during the months of May and early June resulted in the vine having some additional water reserves to face the months of intense summer heat. All in all, the outlook is very positive for the harvest and for the quality that our bottled wines will have”.
In this context, and according to Adolfo Cano, “the vines are in very good health these days at the beginning of the harvest. It is important to keep in mind that we hope that the weather does not leave us any kind of rain or storm of greater intensity that could disrupt the state of our vineyards throughout the year”.
