Denomination of Origin Almansa once again closes a year with record numbers in terms of its bottling: the total number produced in order to satisfy domestic and international demand was that of 6.13 million, almost 14,8% more than in 2018. It is the first time in the history of our Designation of Origin that our bottling has surpassed the 6 million bottles.
In this way, our production area sets yet another record in annual volume of bottles, something that has been happening since the year 2015, when the peak of 3,17 million units was reached. Previously, the total level of bottles, which fell by approximately 12% in 2014, has rebound until the 6.13 million that closed the 2019 campaign for Certificate of Origin Almansa.
Adolfo Cano, the president of Almansa Designation of Origin, assessed this strong upturn in 2019 as “great news for our production area, taking into account that in 2011 we had not yet reached the number of three million bottles”. According to Cano, this confirms not only the special prominence which our wines already achieved in Spain and abroad, but also highlights our sector as “an economic engine for the whole region and province, capable of generating quality employment, wealth and brand value which is now a reality after surpassing the level of 6 million bottles”.
