Once again, the Almansa Designation of Origin has organised a new Reverse Trade Mission, welcoming importers from the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore and Taiwan. This initiative aims to continue strengthening the presence of DO Almansa wines in international markets and to generate new business opportunities.
Over the course of these days, the importers had the opportunity to discover the DO Almansa production area first-hand, visiting its 11 wineries, tasting their wines, enjoying our gastronomy and discovering the different municipalities that form part of the designation.
The official reception took place on Monday, 11 May, at the Ermita de San Blas, headquarters of DO Almansa. There, the importers were welcomed at an event attended by representatives from all the wineries, the President of DO Almansa, Adolfo Cano, and local authorities from Almansa Town Council.

During the reception, the importers were able to taste our wines accompanied by a cocktail. This served as a first introduction to DO Almansa, our territory and our gastronomy.

Professional showroom with the 11 wineries of DO Almansa
On the second day, the importers took part in a professional showroom with the 11 wineries of the Almansa Designation of Origin.
The wineries held individual meetings with each importer in order to present their brands, their wines and offer a personalised tasting of some of their references.
This format allows direct contact to be established between wineries and importers, encouraging the creation of new business relationships. It also served to showcase the diversity of wine styles produced within the Almansa Designation of Origin.

The morning concluded with a lunch at the hotel alongside representatives from each winery, with the aim of strengthening ties and sharing impressions about the wines tasted. In the afternoon, the importers enjoyed a guided tour of Almansa, where they were able to discover part of its heritage, history and some of the city’s most representative sites.
Visits to all wineries to discover them first-hand
Throughout 13 and 14 May, the importers visited all the wineries of DO Almansa, with the aim of learning first-hand about the history and uniqueness of each one, touring their facilities and tasting their wines in the very place where they are made.

In addition to visiting the facilities of each winery, the importers also had the opportunity to walk among the vineyards and discover the environment where our wines are born. This is essential to understand our land, our climate and the character that makes our most representative variety, Garnacha Tintorera, so special.

During these two days, they were also able to discover the other municipalities that make up the production area, as well as taste the gastronomy of our region, including our traditional gazpachos manchegos. In this way, the action not only brought the wines closer to international professionals, but also showcased the environment, culture and gastronomic tradition that form part of the identity of DO Almansa.

A very positive assessment
This fourth edition of the so-called “Reverse Trade Missions” has represented a great opportunity to continue promoting DO Almansa wines in markets with great potential, such as the Asian market, especially in a context in which internationalisation is key to the growth of all our wineries.
From the Almansa Designation of Origin, we make a very positive assessment of the development of this type of initiative and would like to thank all the importers for the effort they have made to visit us, especially at a time marked by a certain level of uncertainty in the international context.
Through this action, DO Almansa continues working to strengthen its international presence and to keep showcasing the character, uniqueness and potential of the wines from our production area.
