DO Almansa successfully closes 2024 with an important promotional activity both at national and international level

DO Almansa closes another year with important tasks of promotion of our wines and our production area, both in Spain and in different European countries. Therefore, we would like to make a summary of our whole year 2024 highlighting the most relevant promotional activities.

Visit of 5 important international chefs to our locality

At the beginning of February, through the IPEX (Instituto de Promoción Exterior de Castilla-La Mancha) important programme, we welcomed 5 important international chefs from the United Kingdom, Poland, Germany, Singapore and the United States to our production area in Almansa. During their stay, in addition to a guided tour of the Almansa Castle, they visited one of the wineries of our DO Almansa.

The first fair of the year: Barcelona Wine Week

In February we also kicked off our visits to trade fairs with the Barcelona Wine Week, where we were able to present our wines and once again highlight the value of Garnacha Tintorera as our native variety. This edition had a record number of visitors, with a total of 21,000, making it an excellent focus for our DO Almansa wine to generate new business opportunities at a national or international level.

We are back for another year at Prowein

In March we travelled to Düsseldorf (Germany) to attend Prowein once again. During those days, DO Almansa was sharing a stand with other designations of origin from Castilla-La Mancha, in a space set up by IPEX. At Prowein we had the opportunity to present the unique value of our wines, the production area and the particularities of our most representative grape varieties to professionals from the sector.

Expovicaman and DO Wine Movement Day

DO Almansa was present at both the Agricultural and Livestock Fair of Castilla La Mancha and the International Cheese Fair in Albacete. Both were held at the Albacete Exhibition Centre, where we presented our wines. Also, that weekend coincided with the DO Wine Movement Day, which we joined once again this year with our toast to celebrate the importance of the designations of origin throughout Spain.

II DO Almansa Conference

In the middle of the year we had the most important event for our appellation of origin. Two years after the first edition, we once again held the II Jornadas DO Almansa on 3 June in Albacete. A day that began with a series of information sessions at Casa Perona and culminated with a showroom of our wineries at the Casino Primitivo in Albacete and a gala dinner where we presented various awards to personalities and institutions that have contributed to the growth and expansion of our DO.

Summer tastings

During the summer we also carried out different promotional activities. In this case they were the ‘Summer Tastings’, an initiative in which we carried out, together with the Almansa Wine Route, three different tastings in the different towns that make up the DO Almansa: Almansa, Alpera and Higueruela. Each tasting consisted of a guided tour of the most representative places in each town and ended with a tasting of DO Almansa wines. The tastings took place between July and September and were very well received by the public.

European Food and Wine a recipe for sustainability

On 6 November we travelled to Poland as part of the European project ‘European Food and Wine a recipe for sustainability’. There we attended the XXI edition of the International Fair ENOEXPO Krakow, a benchmark in the sector for distributors and traders in Europe. In this event we presented our wines together with DO La Mancha and DO Jumilla.

At the end of the month, we ended our European tour in the German city of Hamburg, also included in the ‘European Food and Wine’ project. In this case we presented our wines in Villaverde-Wine Seminars, another key market for our wines in Europe.

Promotional actions with the Monastrell Spain Association

Throughout the year, we have carried out promotional actions with the Monastrell Spain Association, such as the one we attended in London to be present at the Best UK Sommelier 2024 event. In October, we also carried out an action in Manchester and London with professionals and experts from the wine sector. Our wines were also present together with Monastrell España at the 24th Best Wines of Spain Show of the Peñín Guide, held in Madrid.

DO Almansa, present at various institutional activities

As part of the regular promotional campaign for Campo y Alma and Tierra de Viñedos, DO Almansa has taken part in the various tastings and activities proposed by the Castilla-La Mancha Regional Ministry of Agriculture in our province and region.

To end this year full of promotional activities, our DO Almansa president, Adolfo Cano, attended the 34th General Assembly of CECRV, where important aspects of the wine sector in Spain were discussed.

Conclusions 2024

With all these promotional actions that we have completed in 2024, both national and international, we close another year fulfilling the objectives set, growing in different markets and highlighting the value of DO Almansa wines and our production area.
