Denominación de Origen Almansa has successfully concluded a mini-tour to present its wines in Europe during the months of October and November, with stops in the cities of Colina and Munich (both in Germany) and Warsaw (Poland).
Our unique Garnacha Tintorera seal, together with the characteristics of the production area, were the main public attractions for our DO Almansa wines, which were also attended by the wineries belonging to the designation of origin at the event held in Warsaw on Thursday 23rd November.
The first European stop was at the Anuga food fair, which took place in Cologne (Germany) from 7 to 11 October. This is the most important food fair in the world, so we took the opportunity to make our wines known within this sector. DO Almansa participated in the Wine Tunnel with 22 references of our wineries within the stand of the European Project ‘Food and Wine’ along with the designations of origin associated with this project, highlighting sustainability and the production of organic wines.
Secondly, Munich was the next stop for this European Project. Germany is the largest importer of D.O. Almansa wines in Europe, so this action is a good bet to continue growing in the German market. The Forum Vini fair was held from 3 to 5 November, bringing together more than 150 exhibitors and more than 9,000 visitors. In addition, DO Almansa was present with a Wine Tunnel of our 11 wineries, where attendees were able to learn more about our production area and our wines. To round off the event in Munich, the sommelier Tina Heidelberg gave a seminar on DO Almansa which received great interest, tasting wines with our most representative varieties. We started with a white wine made with the white grape variety Verdejo, a red wine made with the Monastrell variety and we closed the tasting with our native variety: a wine made 100% with Garnacha Tintorera that surprised the public present in Munich.
Warsaw, the capital of Poland, was the last stop on this European tour. Poland is a potential market with a growing demand year after year for our wines. The Crossways Red and White event, which took place on Thursday 23rd November, included a showroom of our wineries, aimed at professionals and end consumers, thus reinforcing the promotion of our wines in the Polish market. In addition, a DO Almansa MasterClass session was also held in Warsaw, with the sommelier Michal Stykowski, who explained the characteristics of our production area. With this action, the promotion of the 2023 wines in the Polish capital was brought to a close in the best possible way.
Adolfo Cano, president of DO Almansa, has valued ‘positively both the reception and the great promotional work carried out during these months of October and November in Europe’, having left our wines ‘a great taste in the mouth, especially for the unique characteristics of our wines’.
