2025 harvest in DO Almansa: excellent grape health, early harvest, and very positive outlook for the vintage

DO Almansa has closed the 2025 harvest with very positive results in terms of grape health and harvest quality. The rains recorded last winter were decisive in helping the vines maintain excellent vegetative health throughout the season, regaining vigor after several seasons marked by drought.

Thanks to these water reserves, the vines have enjoyed very favorable growing and ripening conditions, producing uniform bunches with hardly any incidence of disease or severe weather that could have significantly affected the grapes, especially our Garnacha Tintorera variety.

Heat in August and September: early harvest

The high temperatures recorded in August and September caused the harvest to start slightly earlier than the average for previous years. The first white varieties began to be harvested at the end of August, while reds such as Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell began to be harvested during the first half of September. This early start allowed the grapes to be harvested at their optimum ripeness, preserving the natural balance between alcohol content and acidity.

Balanced production and high-quality grapes thanks to the rainy winter of 2025

Total production remained at levels similar to those of an average season in the area, with stable volumes and excellent quality bunches. The cool nights at the end of summer favored slow and complete ripening, bringing concentration, aromatic intensity, and balance to the red and white varieties.

Institutional assessment: “a fantastic harvest”

Adolfo Cano, president of the Almansa Designation of Origin, highlighted the excellent quality of the grapes this season: “We are looking at a fantastic harvest, marked by the good health of the grapes and very balanced ripening. All of this allows us to be confident that the wines resulting from this vintage will be in excellent health and will be very well received both in Spain and in international markets.”

Outlook for the 2025 vintage

With the harvest now complete, the wineries of the Almansa DO are approaching the winemaking process with optimism. The wines from this season are expected to faithfully reflect the identity of the region, with structure, freshness, and varietal expressiveness. The combination of winter rains, a controlled early harvest, and excellent sanitary conditions lays the foundation for a vintage with great potential for Almansa DO wines.
